Inverterzone Solar WiFi Dongle

How to Install the Inverterzone Solar WiFi Dongle

Setting up your Inverterzone Solar WiFi Dongle takes about 10 minutes. Follow the steps below to get real-time solar, battery, and grid monitoring on your phone.

Inverterzone Solar WiFi Dongle

Step 1: Locate the RS232 / RJ45 Port

Find the RS232 communication port on your inverter — usually labeled COM, RS232, or PC. This is separate from any Ethernet/LAN port your inverter may have. Check our Compatibility List if you're unsure which port your model uses.

Step 2: Plug In the Dongle

Insert the WiFi Dongle directly into the RS232 port. No external power source is needed — it draws power from the inverter itself. If your inverter uses a DB9-style RS232 port, use the correct RS232-to-RJ45 adapter cable (available separately in our store).

Step 3: Power Cycle Your Inverter

Turn the inverter off and back on after connecting the dongle. This lets the inverter recognize the new serial device.

Step 4: Download the App & Connect to WiFi

  1. Download the Inverterzone app for Android or iOS
  2. Create an account or log in
  3. Tap Add Device and scan the QR code on the dongle, or enter its serial number manually
  4. Select your home WiFi network (2.4GHz only — most dongles don't support 5GHz) and enter your password

Step 5: Confirm the Connection

Once connected, check the app for live Solar, Battery, and Grid data. If you see "device not registered," give it a few hours to sync, or reach out to us on WhatsApp and we'll verify it from our side.

Troubleshooting

  • No data showing: Double-check you're plugged into the RS232/COM port, not a different port.
  • Won't connect to WiFi: Confirm your network is 2.4GHz, not 5GHz-only.
  • "Device not registered": This usually resolves within a day. Message us on WhatsApp if it persists.
  • Inverter not listed in the app: Contact us on WhatsApp with your inverter brand and model — we support 239+ models across 38+ brands and can confirm compatibility.
